Charles describes his father as "a very godly man" who believed in the Bible and took his family to church. But when he was 14 or 15, Charles started losing interest in living a Christian life and began hanging around with older guys who were living "the wild life," drinking and using marijuana. "I became a father when I was about 22 and I was happy. But I started snorting cocaine and I knew I wasn't doing the right thing. I knew that my life wasn't the way my father had told me it should be," he says. Charles thought a change of scenery would help, so he moved to Florida and then to Hawaii before returning to Indy. |
