A piece of cast-off cardboard can be a homeless person's best friend – or last resort. If you're lucky enough to get a whole box, it can be a home. Or the only suitcase you have for your meager belongings. Here at Wheeler Mission, with your help, we replace cardboard with warm beds, serviceable shoes, clothing and a place to shelter from cold winter nights. We also provide hot meals and the means to end homelessness – one person at a time. Do these simple services make a difference? Absolutely! Just ask Ron.  For 30 years, Ron worked and drank and used drugs until an injury put him on disability. When the disability ran out, he cashed in his 401k to "pay my rent and drink." When the 401k was gone he moved in with a friend. When that welcome wore out, he found himself on the streets. Ron's sister called Wheeler Mission and a bed was found for him. Slowly, Ron realized that "I was here to let God take control of my life again." Through our Hebron Center addiction program, Ron found the spiritual, emotional and physical support he needed to rebuild his life.
