Preschool Assistant Teacher(s):Women living at the Care Center and have young children, have the opportunity for their children to learn while they are there. This also gives the moms an opportunity to go out and look for gainful employment to provide for her family, while the children are in school. Volunteering with the preschool could be such a special blessing -- hugs and kisses included! Please email Pam Eversole, or call her at (317) 635-3575 to find out more. Lunch and/or Dinner Workers:Do you have a small group (one to four people) who desire to serve others by coming one time each month or so, to cook and/or serve Lunch to the women and children staying at the Care Center? The Care Center invites (women or possibly men) to help out. Groups may either donate some or all of the food, or prepare what is on hand at the shelter. Please email Cathy Rohrer, or call her at (317) 635-3575 if you are willing to give it a try. Cleaning, organizational, and possibly decorating projects:If you and/or other adult(s) you know have the desire to help others, and would like to be a huge encouragement to the staff and residents of our women and children's shelter, please email Pam Eversole, or call her at (317) 635-3575. The building that houses the shelter was formerly an IPS school. It is huge and now houses many women and children. Therefore, there is much to do to keep up with maintaining and cleaning the facility. The staff at the Care Center is small and work very diligently to keep up with the daily responsibilities. Many times it is very difficult to keep up with the demands of working with the large number of people, plus the cleaning and maintenance. Therefore, workers are welcomed, and donations of cleaning products and supplies for special projects are greatly appreciated! We also schedule individuals or groups on occasion for decorating projects, to make it more like home for someone hurting and homeless. If you or someone you know are interested in doing something that is very rewarding and will affect many lives, contact Paulette, (317) 637-2916 to discuss this opportunity. Tutors:Volunteers are needed to tutor adult females in reading and math at our Care Center site (23 N Rural St) and our Higher Ground Center (375 W Edwards Ave). Please contact Wheeler's Volunteer Coordinator, Pam Eversoele, if you are interested, or contact Lisa Hoffman at the Care Center, 637-2916 ext. 23 or Jan Davidson at the Higher Ground Center, (317) 780-0010 for more information. |
